United Arab Emitrates-based charity organisation,the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation on Thursday donated food and other relief supplies to drought-affected communities in Somaliland,according to local media reports.

“I am very happy to welcome our brothers from U.A.E as you are all aware of severe drought that has hit many regions in the country,” said Somaliland’s ambassador to the U.A.E Bashe Awal Omar said who welcomed the Foundation’s team from the UAE.

Omar commended president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo for his role in appealing for the aid.UAE is the first nation to respond to Somaliland’s plight.

Meanwhile,finance minister Samsam Abdi Adan dispatched a convoy of carry food and medicine to Alay Baday district and neighbouring areas.The relief will benefit approximately 1,500 families.
