Leicester defeat city to go top
A few years ago it would have been unimaginable to fancy Manchester City versus Leicester City as the biggest fixture in the English Premier League as the two former minnows placed first and second respectively went head to head.
What a story has Leicester been this season. Not even a more astute punter would have bet on Leicester to top the table in February.
This was the case on Saturday when the Foxes underlined their title credentials when they swept away second placed Manchester City 3-1 at their own backyard. Two goals by defender Robert Huth either side of the half and a marvellous strike by the sensational Riyad Mahrez saw Leicester take a 3-0 lead before a late Sergio Aguero consolation made the score look a little bit respectable.
Fast and incisive counter attacking play has epitomised Leicester City play this season, and for the most of the play the super-rich Citizens were on their back foot. It could have been more had Jamie Vardy been more clinical and Joe Hart’s heroics.
Bottom of the table at this stage of the last season, Leicester are now five points clear at the top of the table having also scored the joint highest number of goals in the league.
Next for Leicester are Arsenal who recently have recently witnessed their won title ambitions stutter. Maybe if Leicester repeat this fete against Arsenal then everyone would start believing that they are indeed capable of winning the EPL.
