President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo on Tuesday opened the second phase of development of education in the country at a function which was held Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa.
The president revealed that the government had increased the education budget 12 percent this year and by 54 percent over the past five years.
According to the president, there are over 1,000 primary and secondary schools in the country which are attended by nearly 250,000 students.The president in his address pointed out that his government had succeeded in making primary education free.
Silanyo finally extended his gratitude to all the donors such Save the Children, Care International and the Norwegian Refugee council for their support in development of education in the country.
